The Skaugan Main at the time of the Fishwives was a diverse and fractious environment with a great deal of political turmoil. While many of its continents, namely Orlan and Kothas, had been long inhabited by their native populations, some continents had been colonized by foreign powers, introducing new and shifting alliances to the region. This gazetteer contains an incomplete list of important locations in the Skaugan Main during the period depicted in The Tales of Ka-Ess.

Argonas

The well-attested region of Argonas was home to the kingdoms of Carmos and Egron, as well as the Duchy of Alon.

Hinazka

The wild continent of Hinazka was largely uninhabited, with the notable exception of the island city-state Port Skaug at its southern tip. At some point prior to 218 V.II, Hag Island reappeared in the island chain between Hinazka and eastern Kwetzpali.

Imerwel

The continent of Imerwel was the Empire of Doloriane's main colony in the Skaugan Main.

Koroç

The vast and wild steppe of Koroç was inhabited by fierce nomads, noble centaurs, and the savagewerewolf tribes.

Kothas

Kothas was the ancestral home of the minotaurs and the seat of The August Hierarchy.

Kwetzpali

Kwetzpali was a heavily forested, tropical continent in the Skaugan Main, notable for its wild denizens The Thousand Tribes and the Lizardfolk. Port Nyanzaru was one of the few ports on the continent open for foreign trade. The continent was also home to the Evil Snake Cult.

Mictlan

Mictlan, the Isle of the Damned, was home to the slaver capital Port Drak.

Orlan

The fertile continent of Orlan was home to a loosely confederated group of Halfling agricultural settlements until its invasion by The August Hierarchy in 218 V.II, an event which triggered the halfling refugee crisis.

The Underdark

Many peoples and creatures lived in the caves and tunnels beneath the earth, which were said to go even below the ocean. Prominent locales include the drow city of Ched Nasad and the legendary library at Gravenhollow.

Other Worlds

There are other planes of existence. Some, like the Feywild and the Shadowfell, are relatively close to the Prime Material Plane and mirror it in many ways. Others, like the hells or the Outer Dark, are strange, terrible, and thankfully far away.
