The August Hierarchy is the minotaur nation based on the island of Kothas. Skilled sailors and fearsome warriors, the minotaurs are one of the major powers in the region. Their culture is intensely focused on honor and strength, with death in battle is second only to victorious conquest. The power of their fleet of galleasses and war galleys is matched only by the frigates of the Elvish Empire.

The minotaurs are ruled by a triumvirate: the Hierarch, or priest-administrator; the Polemarch, or general; and the Navarch, or admiral. While these positions are drawn from a small number of royal clans, they are earned or seized, not inherited.
