Abandoned warehouses, storage cellars and basements throughout Port Skaug have long served as makeshift venues for unlicensed fights, but in the last century these disparate elements have coalesced into one organization - the Order of the Blackened Eye. Couched in syncretic symbolism and trappings of the occult, this secret criminal society arranges and controls betting over all sport fighting in the city. Because of the organization's emphasis on secrecy, all fighters and attendees must wear masks, with costumes ranging from simple domino masks to elaborate gimmicks. In addition to itinerant sailors, poor native Skaugans, and the occasional professional boxer, combatants in the arena sometimes include young nobles looking for "kicks."
