Ka-Ess, having escaped the clutches of both the dread Admiral Drax and the treacherous hag with his companions Bragen the minotaur and the mute, illiterate half-orc, arrived to the (comparative) safety of Port Skaug.

Deciding he was in need of a proper vessel, Ka-Ess recruited a crew for a cutting-out expedition against the pirates of Jahak Bay, off the south coast of Hinazka. His new shipmates included Ilabrar the druid and Ardrick the cleric.

They took the cutter north, planning to approach the bay from the landward side by sailing up the Amac River. The party was spotted by a minotaur galley, which gave chase, though the crew escaped in a sorcerous fog.

The companions encountered a river god in the form of a gigantic turtle. Ilabrar, who spoke the primordial language of elemental water, negotiated their passage in return for a barrel of salt cod.

The not-yet-Fishwives concealed the cutter and made their way through the jungle. They attacked the pirates at midnight, catching them by surprise and defeating them with bold and frequent use of the Shatter spell. The pirate captain wielded a mystic moonblade, which Ka-Ess expropriated. Unsettlingly, the pirate crew was joined by sahuagin.

Now with a ship, the now-fishwives sailed back to Port Skaug.
