History
The dwarves claim to have been forged out of the very earth by their chief deity, Moradin All-father, who blew life into them with his bellows.
They flourished before recorded history, leaving ruins and treasures of chthonic wonder. Ancient rune-hieroglyphs are carved into these ancient structures, but their meaning was lost during the First Dark Age. The earliest surviving chronicles date to the time of King Rangrim Shatterstone, a semi-legendary king who united the fractious dwarven clans and drove the goblinoids out of the mountains of Eriar. Rangrim's existence is well-attested by the archeological record, but chronicles assign him implausible deeds like raising mountains, creating the Kharazar River after a night of drinking, and slaying evil gods and spirits.
