The House of Manlizard
The House of Manlizard was a quasi-noble house of Port Skaug, founded by Ka-Ess von Manlizard after his appointment to the Council of High Captains. The infelicitous manse Vanwamarta, granted as one of the dubious benefits of office, served as the House's manor. The House of Amakiir had previously inhabited Vanwamarta before the family met its mysterious demise. In professed "homage" to its departed occupants, and to strengthen the legitimacy of his claim to minor nobility, Ka-Ess usurped House Amakiir's coat of arms — three golden ships emblazoned upon a white bend sinister against a blue field — for his own heraldic achievement .
The Arms of House Manlizard

“The fantastic and mundane are closely juxtaposed in the complete Achievement of the House Manlizard, adopted by a minor pirate lord upon being elevated to the High Captaincy of Port Skaug. To the simple escutcheon of the extinguished House in whose manse he was installed, High Captain Ka-Ess innovated a variety of heraldic insignia reflecting his ancestry and deeds. A blazon of the Achievement might be described thus:
‘Azure, a bend sinister Argent charged with three merchant ships Or. And above, upon a tilting helmet bearing around its neck the badge of a quill Or, the crest, on a torse of the colors Azure and Vert, with mantling of a couatl’s wings proper displayed inverted, an ouroboros Or encircling an increscent Argent upon a field Sable. And for supporters, two dragons rampant Vert, dexter and sinister. And beneath, inscribed upon a banderole, the motto ‘Born of the Sea’ in Draconic script.’
This assumption of an heraldic Achievement entire upon appointment to minor office was probably perceived as grandiose and impertinent, but it was by no means unprecedented; in the lawless Skaugan Main, arms were unregulated and frequently adopted and discarded by the region’s haute-bourgeois, comprised largely of smugglers and pirates…”
