Captain Zomos Pebolath, also known as Captain Z, is a two-spirit Triton whose pronouns are they/them. They are around 150 years old and are rather large for a Triton, at over 6 ft and probably pushing 200 lbs.

Captain Pebolath has clearly been sailing (and living under) the seas for many years. Their garb is littered with barnacles and sea grasses, not just as debris, but attached and living there. They are most often seen wearing a black tricorn hat, trench, and skirt. Sometimes they'll sport a beard, sometimes not. Zomos is well meaning and deeply loving, but often comes off as a much colder person.

The Pebolath family runs the oldest continuously operating Triton trading outpost in the Port Skaug area, best known for its bulk shipwreck debris packages and kitschy little upcycled crafts which are made primarily of seafloor debris. The Merchant Princes have long held the Pebolath family in high regard due to their commitment to trade with the surface and keeping many manner of evil creatures confined to the Darkened Depths.

While Zomos is fiercely motivated by their duty to protect both water and surface folk from the creatures inhabiting the Darkened Depths, they have seen enough in their years on the sea that they can't stand the self-serving behavior of many merchants. They are particularly disturbed by traders who have no regard for the delicate ecosystems of the ocean and overfish (or overharvest) entire areas or species.

Zomos captains the Second Wind, which can often be found stalking and pirating boats wreaking havoc on the ocean. Zomos might could be described as the Robin Hood archetype; they attempt to maintain order and life near their family's sphere of influence and give what they plunder to those most in need.

Most aboard their ship call them "Captain Z". While some of the crew of the Second Wind are loyal seafolk who pledge their debts to Zomos, all crew enjoy fair treatment and wage under Zomos and (at least mostly) rest better at night knowing they've made a positive impact in the world. The crew of the Second Wind recently made a splash when rumors circulated of their threats to waterboard (with what they call "the salty swallow") a whaler who had been repeatedly caught harpooning cows.
