Cheeky ventured into the Shadowfell to retrieve it from a . . . well, it's a long story. It's . . . not quite what she expected.
Eberhardt Fischer examined the runic staff and determined the gem had been cut over 10,000 years prior. As far as he could tell, the staff itself had existed...forever.
