The shadar-kai, ("Shadow" or "Dark" elves) are natives of the Shadowfell. Powerful, enigmatic, and malevolent, they sometimes make bargains with inhabitants of the mortal realm, rarely to the benefit of the mortals.

They resemble elves, but sources differ on whether they are a variant of elf or something else.
